Bird Shipping & Travel Information

How we approach getting a bird safely from our aviary into your home, domestically or internationally.

Our Approach to Safe Transport

The wellbeing of the bird is the deciding factor in every travel decision we make — route, timing, and method are all chosen with that priority first. We ship safely to major airports in the United States, Canada, and Europe.

Preparing a Bird for Travel

Before travel, birds are given a pre-travel health check and allowed to acclimate to their travel crate where possible, to reduce stress on travel day.

Health Documentation

Birds are health-tested prior to placement, covering PBFD (Psittacine Beak and Feather Disease), Polyomavirus, Psittacosis, Avian Borna Virus. Depending on destination, additional veterinary certification may be required for travel — we'll confirm what's needed for your specific route.

Travel Crates

We use appropriately sized, secure travel crates suited to the bird and the length of the journey, with attention to ventilation, secure footing, and minimizing stress.

Domestic Transport

Within the United States, we coordinate transport options based on distance and destination, discussed directly with each buyer.

International Transport

We ship to major airports in Canada and Europe in addition to the United States. International placements involve additional planning around documentation, customs, and destination-country entry requirements, which we work through individually with each buyer before committing to a route or date.

Regulatory Documentation

Depending on species and destination, regulatory documentation can include health certificates, permits, or species-specific paperwork (such as CITES documentation for regulated species). Requirements are set by government agencies, not by us, and can change — so we always recommend confirming current requirements for your specific destination before finalizing plans.

Weather Considerations

Extreme heat or cold along a travel route can pose a real risk to a bird's safety. We monitor forecasts and will reschedule travel rather than proceed in unsafe conditions.

Airport Collection

Where air travel is used, collection arrangements at the destination airport are coordinated in advance so the bird spends as little time as possible in transit after landing.

Travel Process

In general: health check and documentation are finalized, travel is booked around suitable weather, the bird travels in a secure and appropriately sized crate, and collection or delivery is coordinated with you directly. Exact steps vary by destination and are confirmed with you ahead of time.

Import and export requirements for live birds vary by species, origin, and destination, and can change without notice. This page describes our general process and is not a guarantee of any specific permit, approval, or timeline — please confirm current requirements with the relevant authorities for your location before finalizing travel plans.
