About Cockatoo Aviary

Hand-raising companion parrots with individual attention, ethical breeding principles, and lifelong support for every home we place a bird into.

Our Story

Cockatoo Aviary began as a small, dedicated effort to place well-socialized, hand-raised Cockatoos into responsible companion homes — first connecting with bird-loving families directly, and growing into the aviary we are today. Every bird we place has been part of our household environment from an early age, not a warehouse operation.

We work with companion parrot owners across the United States, Canada, Europe, and the Middle East, and we're expanding our collection beyond Cockatoos into African Grey Parrots and Conures — while holding every new bird to the same standard of care.

Our Approach to Bird Care

Every chick in our care is hand-fed and hand-raised, then socialized within an active household environment before ever meeting a new family. We believe this early, individualized attention is what makes the difference between a bird that merely tolerates people and one that genuinely thrives alongside them.

Ethical Breeding Principles

We prioritize the wellbeing of our breeding birds and their offspring over volume — clutch sizes, feeding schedules, and socialization timelines are shaped around what's best for the birds, not around maximizing output.

Bird Welfare

Diet, enclosure space, enrichment, and social contact are treated as daily requirements, not afterthoughts. We believe a companion parrot's long-term behavioral health starts with how it's raised in its first weeks and months.

Socialization

Chicks are exposed to everyday household sounds, gentle handling, and regular human interaction from an early stage, which supports a calmer, more adaptable adult bird once placed in a new home.

Health and Documentation

Birds are health-tested prior to placement, with screening that covers PBFD (Psittacine Beak and Feather Disease), Polyomavirus, Psittacosis, Avian Borna Virus. We're glad to discuss the documentation available for any specific bird you're interested in.

Preparing Birds for New Homes

Before a bird leaves our care, it is weaned, health-checked, and accustomed to the kind of everyday handling it will experience in a companion home — and we remain a resource for new owners as they settle their bird in.

Our Aviary

Our birds are raised in a home-integrated environment rather than an isolated commercial facility, which we believe produces calmer, more people-oriented companion parrots.

International Experience

We've worked with companion parrot owners across the United States, Canada, Europe, and the Middle East. Specific shipping and collection arrangements vary by destination — see our Shipping Information page for a full overview.
